The County Agricultural Investment Program (CAIP) is designed to provide farmers with incentives to allow them to improve and diversify their current production practices. CAIP is a program of the KY Agricultural Development Fund (KADF) and is funded by the Tobacco Settlement Fund, part of the Master Settlement Agreement (MSA).
These funds will be distributed to farmers as a 50% cost-share incentive to approved applicants up to a maximum reimbursement of $2,000 among 3 investment areas.
CAIP provides Kentucky agricultural producers with cost-share assistance on practices to allow them to improve and diversify their current farm operations. CAIP covers a wide variety of agricultural enterprises in its 11 investment areas, including, but not limited to, bees and honey, equine, forage, beef and dairy cattle, goats and sheep, horticulture, poultry, swine, timber and technology, as well as energy efficiency and production, farm infrastructure and water enhancement, marketing, and value-added production.
Eligibility
All applications are scored, based on the scoring criteria set by the Kentucky Agricultural Development Board.
All producers must be 18 or older and have a valid Farm Serial Number (FSN). Applicants do not have to reside in Butler County, but the land must be in Butler County. If they do not own the farm, they must have written permission from the landowner granting them permission to use the FSN (a minimum of 5 years for capital improvements).
Participants must also have attended 1 educational activity no more than 6 months prior to applying and before payment is received.
All participants interested in cost-sharing on Beef and Dairy practices (such as the purchase of bulls, heifers, or handling facilities) must also have an up-to-date KY Beef Quality and Care Assurance (BQCA) certification before funding is received.
